On Budapest's finest street, right next to the State Opera House, Callas Café & Restaurant simultaneously preserves tradition and represents the most up-to-date style.
An ideal place for a cocktail before going to the theatre, or for supper after an opera performance,
the delicacies of its pastries and the choice dishes of its menu also tempt guests in for breakfast and lunch.
The palace was designed by the architect Vilmos Freund in neo-renaissance style in 1880 just next to the Opera.
The building, which is a national monument today, was completed one year before the opening of the Hungarian Royal Opera House.
In this Sugár Avenue (today called Andrássy Avenue) palace, Károly Seemann opened his café on the ground floor first under the name of Szecesszió,
later (1919) it was renamed to Windsor. In the 1920s, it was the office of the English-Hungarian Bank and later the Opera Clothing Company could be found in it.
The palace regained its function as a café in the 2000s and by today it has become a real jewel-box of the Andrássy Avenue, a World Heritage site.
It gained its present form in 2006 in art déco style, according to the design of the world famous architect David Collins, who also worked on such famous places as the restaurants Gordon Ramsay and The Wolseley in London, certain parts of the hotels Ritz and Hilton or even Madonna's flat. 

In the evening, Callas is a particularly attractive supper venue, where guests are entertained with live salon music.
The Blue Danube Concert and Salon Music Orchestra conjure up a pleasant atmosphere within the elegant surroundings with classical pieces,
selections from operetta and musicals, Broadway hits and film music.
